Hi all, it’s Lois, hope you are doing well. Here we go with this weeks Top 5 Wednesday, favourite angsty romances.

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly challenge, find the Goodreads group here.

Without further ado, here are my top 5 favourite angsty romances.

1) Rosie and Alex from Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern

714985.jpg“From naughty children to rebellious teenagers, Rosie and Alex have stuck by each other through thick and thin. But just as as they’re discovering the joys of teenage nights on the town and dating disasters, they’re separated. Alex’s family move from Dublin to America – and Alex goes with them. For good.

Rosie’s lost without him. But on the eve of her departure to join Alex in Boston, Rosie gets news that will change her life forever – and keep her at home in Ireland.”

Rosie and Alex are definitely one of favourite angsty romances. They argue all the time, they both have their fair share of issues that they have to get through. But their romance is such a unique one and certainly one I loved reading about and couldn’t wait to see what would happen.

2) Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

2767052“The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The ‘tributes’ are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.”

I was a Katniss and Peeta shipper from the start. I loved their angsty romance. I loved that Peeta was always all for Katniss. And Katniss just had her two men she couldn’t choose between. All the issues they face throughout the three books. Then the last book and the story of Peeta and Katniss. It makes me sad just thinking about it.

3) Cassie and Evan from The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

51vuchdzq-l-_sx331_bo1204203200_“After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.”

I loved this romance as soon as it began. You don’t know from the start whose side to be on and who to trust. They fight and then they save one another. Their relationship is full of angst. I have yet to read the last book in the series so I really cannot wait to see what happens to their romance and the story overall.

4) Hazel and Gus from The Fault in our Stars by John Green

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars“Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.”

Some people love John Green’s work, some people hate it. I love most of his work despite how cheesy it is a lot of the time. His stories drag me right in. Hazel and Gus’ relationship has a lot of angst in it. Their relationship has so much fun and happiness to it but at the same time there is so much panic, anxiety and fear about what might happened to them both. This story made me cry so much!

5) Hermione and Ron from the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling

51czccauu4l-_sx311_bo1204203200_“Harry Potter’s life is miserable. His parents are dead and he’s stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he’s a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.”

Let’s all be serious why didn’t Ron and Hermione get together sooner. I think we all knew it was coming. They started off hating one another but at the end they loved one another. I am so glad that J.K Rowling put Hermione and Ron together rather than putting Hermione and Harry together.
